How To Get Around Paris
Walking
With so many things to see in Paris, you’ll need to know how to get around.
Luckily, Paris is a super walkable city and most attractions are close-knit.
In fact, walking is my favorite way to get around.
It’s so much fun to just walk and take in the sights, the beautiful architecture, and pop into any stores that catch your eye on the way.
Public Transportation
Paris boasts an extensive public transport system, which is one of the most efficient and affordable ways to get around.
Riding a Paris City Bus is one of the most popular transport options.
Then, there’s the Paris Metro, the Paris Tramway, and the Regional RER Train.
I personally found the Metro to be super simple to use, and all of the lines are color-coordinated so it’s really easy to navigate.
Tours
If the Paris attractions you’re hoping to visit are far apart, you can opt for hop-on-hop-off tours by Tootbus to get around the city.
Go City also offers exciting bus tours.
Then there are guided tours by Viator or Get Your Guide that take you to the top landmarks or allow you to have unique experiences, such as foodie tours or dinner cruises.
Private Transportation
Although it’s the most expensive and least efficient way to get around, you can always call an Uber or taxi.
The only time I think it’s worth it is if you’re heading to or from the airport.
If you’re just arriving in Paris and jetlagged, you may not want to deal with hauling all of your luggage onto the metro.
So I recommend pre-booking this Private Transfer to or from Charles de Gaulle Airport.
1. Grab breakfast at a cute café
The only way to start your day in fabulous Paris is with a pop-in at an aesthetic café.
And trust me, there are tons of them around every corner, with their chairs and tables spilling out onto the buzzing streets.
Sitting at a café truly pulls you into the Parisian lifestyle.
But without waffling further, here are my top picks for adorable cafés:
2. Take a cruise down the Seine River
A Seine River dinner cruise is one of the top things to do in Paris.
After all, it’s also known as the City of Love, so what better way to embrace this than a romantic dinner?
Yes, there are seemingly endless restaurants you can go to.
But why not take your dinner date to the next level with a memorable and heart-warming cruise?
The best part is that you can take in riverfront sights as you make your way down the river.
You’ll see Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower — what’s not to love?
Most cruises include a three or four-course dinner and are sometimes accompanied by live music.

Perched atop Montmartre hill, the Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur offers stunning panoramic views of Paris.
The basilica’s striking white facade and serene interior make it a must-visit.
While the Sacré-Cœur famously has 300 steps leading up to it, you no longer have to climb all of them if you’d like to visit.
Now, you can opt for a short tram ride instead, which makes your visit even more convenient.
Once at the top, you can climb the dome for an even more breathtaking perspective of the city.
Pro tip, if you continue around the corner of the basilica, you’ll suddenly find the crowds disappear and you’ll have an entire street and small park to yourself!

The Jardin des Plantes is not only the main botanical garden in Paris but also one of the prettiest.
Stroll through the garden and photograph the ancient flower gardens, exotic greenhouses, and small scientific museums.
Being Paris’ oldest botanical garden, you’ll come across a vast collection of plant species.
The garden is divided into several sections, each offering a distinct experience.
The Rose Garden boasts over 170 European roses, and you can find trees planted since 1734.
Pop in at the Natural History Museum and the Ménagerie, one of the oldest zoos in the world, inaugurated in 1794.
There is no entry fee, making this one of the best free things to do in Paris.

France’s symbol and Paris’ pride, this iconic wrought-iron tower is a must-visit on any trip to Paris.
Although it may be tempting to head straight to the tower itself, most people agree that the tower is best viewed from a bit further away.

The steps and fountains offer great foreground elements for photos.

The expansive park directly beneath the Eiffel Tower is perfect for photos that capture the tower in its entirety.
This location is ideal for both daytime and nighttime shots, with ample space to find unique angles.
Pont de Bir-Hakeim
This double-decked bridge offers a unique perspective of the Eiffel Tower framed by the bridge’s metalwork.
It’s a popular spot for photographers, particularly for capturing reflections on the Seine.
Rue de l’Université
A charming street that provides a picturesque view of the Eiffel Tower peeking between Parisian buildings.
It’s an excellent spot for a more intimate and urban shot of the tower.

Paris is all about pleasing the senses, and one way this city does so without any disappointment is through its gastronomy.
So, a lovely lunch date with the girls (and guys) should be on the menu.
And if you were wondering where to go, I would definitely suggest the iconic Pink Mamma.

Pack your picnic basket with delicious French delicacies and grab a spot in a beautiful public park.
This is a go-to activity for locals and tourists alike as soon as the sun is out, and with so many picturesque parks dotting the city, I understand why.
One of the most stunning parks is The Jardin du Luxembourg, or Luxembourg Gardens.
This park stands out for its location. From here you can spot the Eiffel Tower, and it’s near many other well-known landmarks, including the Panthéon, the Latin Quarter, and the Saint Michel fountain.
The garden itself has a calm atmosphere with beautiful flower beds, carefully manicured lawns and several statues throughout.
18. See the Louvre at Night
If you don’t already know, the Louvre is an iconic natural art museum home to the most renowned artworks, including the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and Winged Victory.
However, it gets pretty touristy here, and you probably won’t be able to avoid the long queues.
I suggest coming here after sunset on a Wednesday or Friday evening when the crowds are thinner.
Not only can you enjoy a much calmer stroll through the museum, but you’ll get a clear view of the Mona Lisa.
Don’t forget your camera, as the Louvre lights up beautifully at night, allowing you to take some fabulous pics for the ‘gram.
Along with the calm ambiance and lights, they also have nightly music performances by cellists and violinists.
