Top Experience In Fredericksburg
Short on time? I recommend booking a Boutique Winery Experience in Fredericksburg!
1. Explore Main Street
First up is Fredericksburg’s Historic Downtown, centered around Main Street.
This is where you’ll find most of the adorable boutiques, historic buildings, and restaurants.
Franchises and chains aren’t allowed in the historic district, so you’ll only find local businesses here!
Spend some time shopping for gifts, clothes, and home goods, before grabbing a bite to eat.
Visit the Marktplatz, or market square, to find the visitor center, a park, public restrooms, and the Pioneer Museum.

2. Go wine tasting
The sunny and dry climate of the Texas Hill Country makes for some amazing wine.
The region has even been named one of the top wine destinations by Wine Enthusiast Magazine!
Fredericksburg is also the epicenter of Texas Wine Country.
There are over 50 wineries, vineyards, and tasting rooms just in Fredericksburg’s immediate vicinity.
One of the best places to check out some fantastic wineries is along Highway 290, aka Wine Road 290.
You can book a private tour to transport you, or hop on and off the 290 Wine Shuttle.
For a really unique experience, check out 290 Wine Castle, a wine tasting room and bistro designed like a medieval castle!
Find more information about Wine Road 290 on their website.

3. Visit Wildseed Farms
Founded in 1983, Wildseed Farms is the largest working wildflower farm in the country!
From March to October, you can wander through fields of blooming wildflowers, and snap gorgeous pictures.
In order to preserve the flowers, make sure stay on the walking paths, and out of the flower beds.
You can also pick up some plants of your own from the nursery, and grab a cold refreshment from their Brewbonnet Biergarten.
Admission to the farm is free, and they’re open year around, 7 days a week.

4. Hike Enchanted Rock
One of the most unique hikes in Texas, Enchanted Rock is one of the best things to do in Fredericksburg for nature lovers.
Climb this massive pink granite dome, that stands 425 feet taller than its surroundings.
At the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning Hill Country views.
The more adventurous will enjoy climbing through the caves at the top.
There are also more fun hikes to do in the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.
If you can, I recommend camping for the night, so you can experience the amazing stargazing!

5. Visit Das Peach Haus
A visit to Das Peach Haus is an entire experience in itself!
The country-style store offers all kinds of peach products for sale, housed in a historic warehouse from the early 1900’s.
From jams and salsas, to wine, candles, and more- it’s truly heaven if you love peaches.
They also offer food samples and wine tastings daily, with plenty of seating to lounge.
Not only that, the immaculate grounds include a picturesque pond, shady trees, a cooking school, and the neighboring Dietz Distillery.
You could truly spend an entire half-day here, just snacking, sipping wine, and enjoying the scenery.

6. Try German food
Of course, you can’t visit a German town without indulging in some hearty German food.
One of the most popular places to try some delicious schnitzel is right on Main Street, at The Auslander.
Here, you’ll find a large beer selection and Bavarian-inspired fare, with Texas-sized portions.
For a more upscale experience, head to Otto’s German Bistro, which specializes in farm-to-table German cuisine in a cozy setting.
7. Browse the Warehouse District
You’ll find the Warehouse District just off Main Street in downtown Fredericksburg.
This district is best known for its unique home goods and antique stores.
Gathered & Good is one of the most popular places here to shop for adorable home decor and gifts.

8. Browse Magnolia Pearl
Magnolia Pearl is a clothing line created by designer Robin Brown, which opened its flagship store in Fredericksburg.
To describe Magnolia Pearl’s style in its own words, “snippets of fairy tales overlay Huck Finn imagery, and bolts of myth underpin psychedelic legends.”
It’s certainly unique, and something you have to see for yourself!
The store itself was built using reclaimed wood sourced from all over the country, and construction is currently underway to expand the property with a coffee and wine bar, and more.
(Unfortunately, the store is currently closed due to COVID.)
9. Visit Luckenbach
Just 15 minutes from Fredericksburg, you’ll find the town of Luckenbach, Texas.
With an official population of 3 people (no, that’s not a typo!) it’s one of Texas’ tiniest towns.
After “Willie, Waylon and The Boys” made Luckenbach famous in 1977, it hit the scene as a music destination.
Today, the Luckenbach Dance Hall remains one of the most legendary venues in Texas.
People visit from all over to experience the relaxed “everybody is somebody in Luckenbach” atmosphere.
So, catching some live music here is certainly one of the best things to do in Luckenbach.
You also must snap a picture in front of the adorable former post office.
Afterwards, step inside to browse the general store for gifts and souvenirs.

10. Watch the bats at Old Tunnel State Park
The smallest state park in Texas, Old Tunnel State Park’s main attraction is (you guessed it) an old tunnel.
Once used as a railroad tunnel, when the trains stopped running, bats moved in.
Nowadays, the tunnel serves as a seasonal home for over 3 million bats.
The bats emerge every evening (usually May through October) filling up the night sky and eating harmful pests.
Watching these little critters take flight is one of the best things to do in Fredericksburg, especially with kids.
